Goggles

Balance Specialists at The Balance Center utilize Frenzel Goggle technology to magnify and record the eye movements for the assessment and treatment of specific dizziness and vestibular disorders. A single image of the eye fills the entire screen of a monitor which allows one to see even the slightest pulses of nystagmus from across the room. Nystagmus is a type of involuntary movement of the eyes that is common in patients that suffer from dizziness or vestibular disorders. It is usually side-to-side, but sometimes is up and down or in a circular fashion. Isolating these movement directions and patterns allows the therapist to diagnose the area of the vestibular system affected. These recordings of the eye movement become invaluable with comparing the initial data to the recordings of the results after vestibular rehab in subsequent visits.
