Joseph Bercik is a Bachelor of Science graduate from Cleveland State University with a major in physical therapy. He has 14 years of experience in physical therapy, including 10 at SJMC with emphasis on outpatient orthopedic and neurological conditions.
Jim Foley graduated from Cleveland State University in 1979 and has spent the last 21 years with SJMC. Over the years he has worked in all areas of physical therapy, with the last five years focused in the outpatient rehab setting. Career interests have been many and varied with chief focus on orthopedic rehab.
Jane graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1985 with a Bachelors degree in physical therapy. She received her Masters in Exercise Science from Cleveland State University in 1991. She is currently a student in the PhD. Program at Nova Southeastern University.
Jane is certified in the McKenzie Methodology of Spine instruction and is also Board Certified in Orthopedics through the American Physical Therapy Association.
Jane joined SJMC in January 2006. Prior to this, she worked in Reno, Nevada where she specialized in outpatient orthopedics. Her areas of interest are the spine and the hip joint although she enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic patients. She has several years of management experience and is also a past president of the Nevada Physical Therapy Association.
Steve Logar graduated from Cuyahoga Community College in 1995 and has been with SJMC since then. He has a rotating schedule that gives him the opportunity to work in outpatient, the skilled nursing unit, the acute care and critical care units of the hospital. To promote clinical education of physical therapist assistant students, the A.P.T.A. has developed a clinical education certification program. He became a certified clinical instructor in 2007.
Todd Ott is a 1991 graduate of Liberty University and a 1994 graduate of Cleveland State University, "Go Vikings." He is a licensed occupational therapist and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2003.
"I really enjoy working with complicated hand and upper extremity injuries," Ott said.
He has experience in developing and implementing transitional work programs for several Northeast Ohio employers. Todd has developed and implemented pre-employment screenings for Northern Ohio industries. He is a Certified Work Capacity Evaluator and has developed transitional work programs to assist injured workers and employers; this benefits an employee reentering the work force.
"My greatest accomplishment was convincing my wife to marry me," Todd said. "We now have a growing family and are doing what is in our power to raise them in a Christ pleasing manner. I am based at the outpatient clinic of St. John Medical Center. If you have an injury that needs my attention, I will provide you with excellence in care, respect and dignity. I strive to always provide care that is compassionate and professional, while continuing the healing ministry of Jesus in the community."
Mary Phares is a licensed physical therapist assistant. She graduated with an associate degree from Cuyahoga Community College in 1993. She has worked with SJMC for 14 years in acute, sub-acute and outpatient physical therapy. She is a credentialed clinical instructor through the APTA.
Diane Washburn graduated from Cleveland State University and has worked as a physical therapist at SJMC for 10 years in the acute, sub-acute, and outpatient settings. Her special interests include treating balance/vestibular and general musculoskeletal issues. She is also a registered nurse and certified clinical educator through the American Physical Therapy Association.
